And before we go any further, no, it's not easy. Like anything else it requires effort and dedication. What 'Easy' really means is that once your money-making mechanism is set up then it should run without attention (if that is the model you have chosen to follow).

Undoubtedly it was easier to make money in the early days, but then again, many of those who are successful now have served their online apprenticeship - many for several years before they could become 'independent' of regular careers. And of course, hindsight is a 100% science, as we all know!

Money Making Hype

What I am finding though, is that when people start selling their 'sure way to make money online' process, then by that time the model is past its peak. So, the trick is to catch the wave as it builds and ride it. That's why my strapline is '...Seeking, Learning, Building, Earning?'

What do You Enjoy?

The other side of the coin (wave?) is that whilst there are hundreds of ways of making money online, some ways may not suit you. I happen to enjoy crafting articles, but many people hate writing articles. So, not only do you need to find your niche market, you need to find your niche methods - those things that you enjoy doing. If you don't enjoy it, then you will not do it well and that will show in the results.

Invest in the Best for the Basics

My basic approach has been to buy the best tools I could find within my budget for the fundamentals. I couldn't stretch to Dreamweaver (which I'd used before), and stumbled across xSitePro2. What a gem! So, generally I'm trying to use the 'best of breed' for my basic tools, with a couple of leading edge service subscriptions - SubmitYourArticle and AWeber for example. For other tools like graphics, audio and video, I'm using freeware (Gimp, Audacity, Jing), which are great but need a bit more work.
